OTC Canada
OTC Canada is the national chapter of the Osteosynthesis and Trauma Care Foundation (OTC Foundation).
Originally founded in 1986 as the Association Internationale pour l’Oesteosynthese Dynamique (AIOD) the foundation is based in Nice, France. Its founding principles focused upon research and science-based methods for dynamic osteosynthesis and closed treatment techniques for bone fracture management. In January of 2008, the organization changes it’s name to the Osteosynthesis and Trauma Care Foundation. As a global professional association of orthopaedic trauma surgeons, OTC offers technical training, supports a wide range of fellowships, sponsors clinical studies and funds research projects.
OTC Canada will deliver a wide range of programs in 2009-2010. These will include a cadaver course, a locally delivered resident training program, a community surgeon focused symposia and a 3-day case-based residents course.
Membership in OTC Canada is free and will provide programs for Surgeons, Residents and Allied Health Professionals.
OTC Foundation
The OTC Foundation is a highly active organization with numerous affiliated national chapters around the world including AIOD Canada, Foundation of Orthopaedic Trauma and the Asian Association for Dynamic Osteosynthesis. The founding mission of OTC continues to be “the advancement of best clinical practices in orthopaedic trauma care through research, education and publication”. Based in Nice, France the Trauma Care Institute is the organizational base for OTC’s administration, education and research activities worldwide.
